Byron Bay, Australia

I’m a documentary photographer and former triple j/ABC radio journalist based in Byron Bay, Australia. In 2011, I studied photo journalism at the International Center of Photography in New York City. In 2012, I began the ‘Small Town Girl’ project and have since lived with and photographed four girls in regional Australia, eight girls across the USA and six girls in South Africa, documenting their daily lives. In 2013 ‘Small Town Girl – Australia’ was exhibited at the Head On Photo Festival in Sydney and at the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery. That same year I was named runner up in the Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards for photography. In 2014, images from ‘Small Town Girl’ were featured in Australia’s Frankie Magazine (issue 62). ‘Small Town Girl – Australia, South Africa and the USA’ was exhibited at Gaffa gallery in Sydney as part of the 2015 Head On Photo Festival. In 2016 I partnered with World Vision to highlight the ways they are helping to empower young women in southern Africa. A photo book will be released when the work is exhibited in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in late 2017. In July 2017 a selection of photos from Small Town Girl (South Africa) were exhibited in a group show in Paris, France.
